Global Education is a pathway to transformative education as it equips learners with the knowledge, values, attitudes and skills needed to problem solve and future shape a better tomorrow. We explore what these terms mean and how we can embed them into schools and classroom learning.
A generation of young people are already 'taking action' on issues of importance and interest to them, creating a generation of Young Changemakers. While much of this is happening outside of schools, such as the #FridaysforFuture movement, educators are perfectly placed to embed Changemaking into their classroom and curriculum. Changemaker education develops real-life skills, equipping students for the now and the future.
In an age of misinformation and disinformation, where deep fakes can confuse and mislead anyone, Media Literacy is a core skill everyone must have. As educators and students spend significant time online, the fundamental skill of Digital Citizenship is also necessary.
Online banking, cryptocurrency, the 'gig economy', NFTs, are all part of modern vocabulary, but do our students have the skills to understand and use these confidently and fluently? How financially literate are students today and how can educators support these skills?
